Terms of Service

Effective date: 19 May 2026  ·  Last updated: 19 May 2026  ·  Operator: VOID TECHNOLOGIES (PTY) LTD

Emergency disclaimer. Void is a directory service, not an emergency dispatch operator. It does not guarantee connection to emergency services. In a life-threatening emergency, if you know your local emergency number, call it directly. Do not rely solely on Void in situations where a delay could cause injury or death.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Void (including the website, API, IVR service, or directory) you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the service. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Void (operated by VOID TECHNOLOGIES (PTY) LTD, "we", "us").

Use by persons under 18 requires parental or guardian consent.

2. What Void is (and is not)

Void is a voice-activated global directory that helps callers find and connect to emergency services and registered individuals worldwide. It is:

3. The directory

Emergency service data is sourced from OpenStreetMap, Overture Maps, national government databases, and crowdsourced contributions. We make reasonable efforts to verify entries but cannot guarantee accuracy, completeness, or availability of any listed service.

Registered persons listed in the directory have consented to their inclusion. You may register yourself and manage your listing at any time.

4. API access

API keys are issued to approved partners. By using an API key you agree to:

We may suspend or revoke API access immediately for violations, abuse, or non-payment (where applicable) without notice.

4a. Service level agreement (paid plans)

For paid API plans (Starter and above), Void targets a monthly API uptime of 99%, excluding scheduled maintenance and events beyond our reasonable control. Downtime is measured from the time a verified support request is raised to dboysen@voidtech.co.za. Where monthly uptime falls below 99%, a service credit of 10% of that month's subscription fee applies per percentage point below target, up to a maximum of the total monthly fee paid.

For Hosted Voice deployments, "Priority SLA" means a first response to support requests within 8 business hours (SAST, South Africa Standard Time, UTC+2). "Standard SLA" means a first response within 24 business hours (SAST, South Africa Standard Time, UTC+2).

Free tier usage carries no uptime guarantee.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use Void to:

6. Liability: emergency services

Critical limitation. Void provides directory information as-is. We are not liable for any harm, injury, loss, or death arising from: (a) inability to reach an emergency service via Void; (b) incorrect, outdated, or missing directory data; (c) network failures, Twilio outages, or any telecommunications interruption; (d) a caller's decision to use Void instead of dialling emergency services directly. Deploying Void in safety-critical infrastructure is entirely at the operator's risk.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Void and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of life, personal injury, loss of data, or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

Our total aggregate liability for direct damages shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or ZAR 100 if no payment was made.

9. Data and privacy

Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using Void you consent to the data practices described therein.

10. Intellectual property

All intellectual property in the Void platform (including the website, API design, software, branding, and proprietary data compilations) is owned by Void. Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership rights.

Data sourced from OpenStreetMap is used under the ODbL licence. Overture Maps data is used under the CDLA Permissive 2.0 licence.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Void at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. You may stop using the service at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.

Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes shall first be submitted to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be referred to the courts of South Africa with jurisdiction.

If you are an EU consumer, mandatory consumer protection rights in your country of residence are unaffected.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the service.
